Download hotfix KB2581464 and installed, (Enter your email address to request down­load link on email) then reboot PC.

After installing the hotfix, perform the following steps:

Click ‘Start’ and type ‘regedit’ in windows 7 search box,press enter.

Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\usbstor

Create a new sub-key VVVVPPPP under usbstor, where

• VVVV represents device descriptor idVendor in hexadecimal.

• PPPP represents device descriptor idProduct in hexadecimal.

In right side panel,right click select ‘New’ -> ‘DWORD Value’,give a name as ‘MaximumTransferLength‘.

Double click ‘MaximumTransferLength’,set Base to Decimal and key in Value data to 2097120.

Then restart PC again.That all.

Note - On most USB storage devices, performance can be improved if the maximum transfer size is increased from the default 64 KB

This issue occurs because Windows locks the primary surface, and then uses theCpuTranslatedAddress address to shadow the primary surface. Therefore, the primary surface is exclusively allocated from a segment of memory that is visible to the CPU.

Note Most Integrated GPUs have an Aperture MMIO range. In this situation, Windows must reserve memory at startup, and expose the reserved memory as a dedicated memory segment. By default, a primary surface must be located in a segment of memory that is visible to the CPU. This is a segment of linear memory space that the GPU has exposed by using a CpuTranslatedAddress address.

Often Windows crashes are related to the unsupported drivers or hardware connected to the pc but it may not be the case all the time. According to Microsoft, Windows 7 SP1 may crash with the following error message,

“This can occur if the number of installed network filter drivers exceeds the specified limit. By default, Windows 7 has a limit of 8, with a maximum allowable limit of 14,” Microsoft explained.

If you want to manually fix Windows 7 Service pack 1 installation failed issue then follow below steps,

1. Click Start (or press win+r shortcut key) , click Run , type regedit , and then click OK .

2. Locate following registry key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Network\

3. In the right pane, right-click on MaxNumFilters, and then select Modify option.

4. Change the value to “14”, and click to select the Decimal option, and then click OK.

Note: Default value is 8 & 14 is the maximum

5. Close the Registry Editor.

“If more than 14 filter drivers are installed, the above registry key will not alleviate the issue. In cases where more than 14 network filter drivers are installed, removing a number of the installed filter drivers should allow the service pack installation to succeed. Network filter drivers can be removed from the properties of the network connection in Ncpa.cpl,” the company explained.

Microsoft released a Fixit solution designed to automatically repair the problem is now available to Windows 7 customers via KB2530477. Alternatively, the manual fix continues to be an option, but since it involves a registry tweak, it’s not exactly recommended to end users.

Shrink a volume

start the Disk Management tool with elevated administrative rights. Click the Start menu button, type diskmgmt.msc into the search box, and then right-click the diskmgmt.msc entry to get to the Run as Administrator item in the context menu.

Clicking Run as Administrator will load the Disk Management Tool.

Right-click the drive you want to shrink (D: in our example) and navigate to the Shrink Volume menu item.

In the Shrink dialog, you will want to enter the amount you want to shrink by, not the new size.

The number you can change on this screen is Enter the Amount of Space to Shrink in MB box. For example,if you want  shrinking drive D by 5000MB (5GB)

When the process is complete, you will have a new unallocated partition. The actual size will be less than what you asked for as there will be some space taken up by the Windows file system

Note that the extend partition feature only works with contiguous space.

Rango Windows 7 theme is based on upcoming comedy movie Rango featuring Johnny Depp as a Sheltered lizard who becomes unlikely a hero, this movie will release in March.

Microsoft has made many changes to the Windows OS. Startup folder is the folder which contains the links to programs which are started when Windows is booted. at the same time you can add any installed programs to the start up list so that you do not have to manually start it after Windows boots.
Windows 7 stores all the startup programs in a special folder, Startup. This folder is available in two forms, one that is for all the users and one that is only specific to one user.  If you add a program link into the folder subsequently common to all users, the program will get started and will affect the boot time for all the users but if you add this for a specific users it will only affect boot time for that particular user.

Location of  the Startup Folder in Windows 7

* Go to Start Menu
* Right click on All Programs and select Open for logged in user and Open All Users for all the users in the computer. ( Details Below)
* This will open a folder designated as Start Menu which has a Programs Folder.
* Click the Programs Folder and find another folder which says Startup

For All users :

* and Select Open All Users.

For Specific Users :

* and Select Open

By default it will open for logged in user. The difference here will be in path. For all users the path will be like “C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu” and for particular user it will be similar to “C:\Users\techwhatnext\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup” where techwhatnext is the user name.

If you are an admin you can find out the username for other user profile and replace it with their name to reach the startup folder of other users.

Adding Programs to Startup Folder :

* Now select the program which you wish to add in the startup list.
* Right click and create a shortcut in the desktop.
* Select and Copy the shortcut
* Go back to the Startup folder and paste it there.

Once done that, restart windows and you will the program running as soon as you login to Windows 7 machine. In case you want to remove it, delete shortcut from there.
